NOTICE INVITING EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FROM NGOs FOR PROVIDING ASISTANCE TO INJURED / SICK YATRIS AND FOR SETTING UP OF MEDICAL AID CENTRES DURING SHRI AMARNATHJI YATRA 2013. Dated: 21-12-2012
Shri Amarnathji Yatra involves trekking at altitudes as high as 14,000 ft under very hostile weather conditions. Under such conditions, many Yatris may suffer from Acute Mountain
Sickness and other serious health related complications, which if not timely attended to, may become lethal. In the aforesaid context, Chief Executive Officer, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, in furtherance to the health facilities provided to the Yatris by State Government / Security Forces, invites Expression of Interest (EoI) from NGOs / Other organizations to: (i) provide assistance for dealing with the Injured / Sick Yatris, who are unaccompanied, at Baltal and Nunwan Base Camps. (ii) set up Medical Aid Centres at (a) Railpathri (b) Between Brarimarg and Kalimata (c) Between Pissutop and Chandanwari (d) 1 Km before Sheshnag (e) Between MG Top and Sheshnag (f) Between Poshpathri and Panchtarni (g) Between Panchtarni and Sangam Top and (h) Nagakoti for the entire Yatra period. The Yatra period (to be held in July-August) shall be specified later. Each Medical Aid Centre should be manned with atleast, two qualified doctors and five paramedical staff besides provide requisite medicines and equipment, particularly hyperbaric chambers, oxygen cylinders, stretchers, oxymeters, pulse meters, etc. The selected NGO / Other interested organizations shall have to make its own arrangements for transportation and boarding / lodging of its personnel at site allocated. The EOI must contain the following information: 

a. Name, full address, and contact details of the head of NGO / Other interested organization.
b. A copy of Registered Certificate of the NGO / Other interested organization.
c. Objectives of the NGO / Other interested organization as per its Bye-laws /
Memorandum of Association along with a copy thereof.
d. Past experience (along with documentary evidence) of NGO / Private Player in Health /
Medical Care sector.
e. List of doctors / para medical staff, (along with a copy of their registration certificates)
medicines, other equipment (along with quantity) etc that would be provided by the
NGO / Other interested organization.
The EoI should reach Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, Chaitanya Ashram, Talab Tillo, Jammu by
or before 21st January, 2012 for further consideration.

How to Register for Amarnath Yatra 2013

If you would like to go for Amarnath Yatra 2013 then you need to register for the Yatra and obtain a Amarnath Yatra 2013 Permit.

Without a valid Amarnath Yatra Permit you will not be allowed to proceed beyond Pahalgam (Chandanwari) and Baltal (Domel) for the Yatra. The registration of Yatris for Yatra 2013 Yatra will start from 18th March 2013 onwards. 

You can register via 121 Branches of  J&K Bank, 50 Branches of YES Bank, 101 Branches of State Bank of India, 100 Branches of Punjab National Bank, and 50 Branches of HDFC Bank, located in various states.

To register for Yatra 2013, you should download the Application Form and the prescribed Compulsory Health Certificate (CHC).

To know the address of the nearest authorized Doctor/ Medical Institution in your State click on the list of Doctor/ Medical Institutions.

Every Registration Bank Branch has been authorized to register a fixed quota of Yatris for each day and each route.

Visit to your nearest Registration Bank Branch early to obtain your Yatra Permit for the day and route of your choosing before the quota gets exhausted.

Please fill-in the Application Form and paste a self signed passport sized photograph on it.

Please fill-in Part A of the prescribed Compulsory Health Certificate (CHC) and paste a self signed passport sized photograph on it. Then submit the CHC to the Doctor/ Medical Institution authorized by your State Government to issue the CHCs. STATE / UT WISE LIST OF DOCTORS / INSTITUTION, AUTHORISED TO ISSUE COMPULSORY HEALTH CERTIFICATE (FOR SHRI AMARNATHJI YATRA 2013)

Persons under the age of 13 years, above the age of 75 years, and ladies with more than six weeks of pregnancy will not be registered for the Yatra. Click to see the press release about this information

If the authorized doctor/Medical Institution certifies you to be fit to undertake the Yatra,  please go to the nearest Registration Bank Branch and submit: (i) the filled-in Application Form along with four passport sized photographs; (ii) the CHC issued by the authorized Doctor/ Medical Institution; and, (iii) Rs 30 as Registration Fee to the Registration Officer in the Bank.

If your Application Form and CHC is in order (and Registration Quota for the day and route is still available), the Registration Officer will issue you a Yatra Permit.

Please bring the Yatra Permit with you when you come to J&K for pilgrimage and embark on your pilgrimage only on the day and from the route for which you have been registered, to enjoy a hassle free pilgrimage.

If you intend to travel by helicopters to Panjtarni, you will not be required to register separately for the Yatra. However, you will have to submit the prescribed Compulsory Health Certificate at the time of boarding the helicopters before being allowed to proceed further for their Yatra.

Useful Tips for Amarnath Yatra

The Yatra is organised by the Jammu & Kashmir Govt., in the month of Shravan, and commences mainly from Pahalgam on specified dates. In recent years the route from Baltal has also been thrown open for the pilgrims to approach the holy Cave.

Dresses to wear and carry for Amarnath Yatra

Pilgrims are advised to carry sufficient wollens such as sweaters, drawers, wollen trousers, monkey cap etc. Other items could include wind cheaters, rain coat, sleeping bag or blankets, umbrella, waterproof boots and shoes, walking stick, torch etc. Ladies are advised not to go on the trek in saris, instead pants or Salwar suits with drawers should be used.

Medical Assistance for Amarnath Yatra

Medical posts manned by qualified doctors and nursing staff are established enroute to cater to the needs of the pilgrims, free of cost. However, pilgrims are advised to carry along any medicines specifically prescribed for them.

Provisions for Amarnath Yatra

Essential rations are available at fair price rates from the specially established Govt. Depots at Chandanwari, Sheshnag and Panchtami, Numerous wayside tea-shops and small restaurants are set up by private parties. However, pilgrims are advised to carry with them biscuits, toffees, tinned food etc. to cater to their immediate needs. Firewood or gas can be obtained at Chandanwari, Sheshnag (Wawajan), Panchtami and near the Cave.
Insurance: In view of the hazardous nature, pilgrims are advised to insure themselves before proceeding on the Yatra.

Accommodation for Amarnath Yatra

Good tented accommodation with allied facilities is set-up during the Yatra period by the J&K TDC as well as private parties. These are provided on the basis of payment of rates fixed by the State authorities. Facilities for booking of such accommodation will be available at the base camps.

Registration for Amarnath Yatra

Registration of pilgrims is undertaken about a month ahead of the date fixed for commencement of Yatra. The dates are generally notified through press advertisements. No Yatri will be allowed to proceed on the journey without a Registration Card.
