Manimahesh Yatra registration has been made compulsory by Govt. of Himachal Pradesh in 2017, to ensure safety and security of the devotees. Registration procedure for taking part in Shri Manimahesh Kailash Yatra is not difficult and registration can be done at Kalsuine (15 km from Chamba on the way to Bharmour) or Hadsar (13 km from Bharmour on the way to manimahesh). Pilgrims traveling by Helicopter can enroll at Bharmour. Pilgrims will recieve a registartion slip after registration which should be submited at the aforementioned stations before and after the yatra.
Officially Manimahesh Yatra is held from Janamashtami to Radhashtami. During this occasion lakhs of pilgrims from all over India visit Manimahesh Lake to take holy bath. Traditionally Manimahesh Kailash Yatra starts from Bharmour, Himachal Pradesh, located at a distance of 61km from Chamba.
Pilgrims first worship at Chaurasi (84) temples and Bharmani Mata temple before going to Manimahesh Lake. Pilgrims then start their journey towards Manimahesh Lake via Hadsar. Bharmour to Hadsar is 13 km by road and pilgrims cover this distance by vehicles.
Most preferred route to Manimahesh goes from Hadsar - Dunali (3km) - Dhancho (6km) - Sundrashi (9km) - Gaurikund (11km) - Manimahesh Lake (13km).
Chamba District administration appoints sector officers/ sector magistrates/ police personnels/ medical and rescue teams during the official period of the yatra i.e. Janamashtami to Radhashtami. Control rooms at Bharmour, Dhancho and Manimahesh Lake are functional 24 hours a day during Yatra.
